Missing Detectives

Chapter 1

John Deere is a well known private detective with a 99% success rate he has been ahead of his time since a prodigy graduating first of his class in all grades and went on to earn a bachelor degree in criminal justice and forensics investigation from a prestige university . One day John was given a missing person case a possible abduction problem was this was a closed case from 10 years , closed down because of a lack of evidence the only reason it was brought again was because the victim's mother kept coming to the station begging that they give just one more try. Tasmia was a 18 year old psychiatric patient suffering from Schizophrenia she was enlisted permanently into a psychiatric ward but 3 months into her confinement she disappeared without a trace the institution has cameras covering the entire premises but none showed Tasmia ever leaving she was last seen entering her room . The ward was not allowed to install cameras in patient's rooms because it went against privacy policy but the rooms were all attached to the hallway and Windows did not open so there was no way anyone could escape through them all staff members and other patients reported nothing strange before Tasmia's disappearance

John took the case assured the mother he would do his best to find her daughter but informed her there was no real evidence or clues to follow so she should not get her hopes up.The next day John visits the hospital which took care of Tasmia the women in charge was more than willing to help she allows John into Tasmia's old room and told her no one except cleaning service has been in there since the disappearance all of Tasmia's clothes were in her closet, her bed was a mess and there were scratches at the bottom corner of her door John charts this Down and heads back home ,the ward agree to send him all CCTV footage of Tasmia . weeks later while working on the case John receives a threat from a unknown number not to continue with the case.

Chapter 2

John sat with his partner at a Café near the station his partner, Amy Weldon was the best detective in the female diversion and had a unique way of looking at things they had partners for 6 years now and in those 6 years they had grown inseparable .John told Amy everything he got on Tasmia case " it's weird 23 cameras on every entrance/exist, hallway, yard and toilets but none caught Tasmia leaving the building.... " Amy was watching the CCTV Footage on her when she suddenly made an expression John had grown familiar with, an expression she made when something was not adding up she looked up from her laptop and asked " when did Tasmia disappear" John flips through his notepad he then reads out " 22 June 2014 13:04" Amy smirks rotating the laptop 180° to face John " what a coincidence The footage of the same day from 12am to 12am the next day is only 23hrs30m . am not mathematician but I know my days are supposed to add up to 24hrs I mean the others do "

John shares a smile charting down notes . Amy rotates the laptop back to her " That is not the only thing you missed John , Mrs. Smith the women who runs the ward said only the cleaning service went into the room but that would not make sense cause the bed is a mess and if not to clean what would the cleaning services do ? " Amy pauses moving across the images then closing the laptop " The hospital is hiding something and We have to get to bottom of it " . " We? ...." John questioned watching Amy take a sip of her coffee put it down then " Yes We , you clearly need my help " John let off a defeated sigh " I got a threat Amy someone wants me to drop the case I do not....." Amy laid a finger over his lips " shhh I have always been more of a visual learner , can I see the threat? " John reaches into his coat pocket pulling out a shriveled up yellow paper and handing it over to Amy she reads the text then to John's surprise folds it over and slides into her bra " I know who wrote this " she went silent staring at John wanting for him to say something which he does eventually " so are you going to tell me ?" Amy smiles, takes the last sip of her coffee and pushes back her chair to stand up " not until you agree to include me ".

Amy is waken up by her ringing phone she rolls over to night stand to answer " Fine , you can be part of the case " John said in a defeated tone Amy smiles " meet me at the station in five minutes ". Amy meets an eagerly waiting John at the station gate " it is 2 AM John , you could have at least went inside " Amy scans her employee card and the two walks into the station Amy scavenges through old files till finally finding what seemed to be a short note she places the two letters next to each other " Same handwriting , the man who wrote this is Jordan deawun " Amy shuffles around her paperwork pulling out official paperwork " Jordan deawun was successfully linked to a three first degree homicides but his lawyers pleaded insanity and..." Amy looks up to John " was enlisted permanently into ..uh the same institution as Tasmia"

Amy makes a call to the Station captain " Requesting warrant to interrogate all Hospital staff and a patient , Jordan deawun. " am going back to sleep we'll meet first thing in the morning and head down to the hospital" Amy let off a yawn walking back to her car . The next morning John walks into a busy office with everyone buzzing up and down the corridor from a distance he catches sight of a troubled looking Amy walking towards him " Jordan was found dead in his room he overdosed on his pills . Am heading down there now, are you coming? " John hesitates " no I will meet you later, there is something I have to verify" . Amy gets to the hospital and heads straight to Jordan's room and finds his body still on the floor with vomit on his shirt , his lips and fingers turned blue he had probably took the pills whilst on the bed but the violent seizures rocked his body off the bed onto the carpet floor she quickly took notes and left the forensic team with the body.

Amy walks into her office meeting John flipping aggressively through his notes while charting down more he looks up from his book and in 3 words explained his entire afternoon " They killed him " Amy was shocked she drags a chair closer to John and leans in to read his notes . John shows the hospital code of conduct with 2 policies highlighted " The hospital policy states no patient will have open access to medical drugs , the nurses carry the patient's pills and give them the exact dosage when needed " John turns on his laptop displaying video of Jordon's regular routine at the asylum " Jordon showed no signs of depression, stress or anything that might lead him to take his own life and he also spends more than enough time with this particular nurse but I did a background check and could not link them "

. Amy now switches on her own laptop " I got the CCTV Footage from yesterday and you will not believe it but ..." Amy rotates the laptop to show John "...The footage is only 23hrs30mins from midnight to Midnight" John charts this down " so much can happen in 30 minutes but to make things more interesting there were scratch marks on the bottom corner of Tasmia's door clearly human but according to the policy the doors to patient's rooms are never locked so why would she or anyone else need to scratch at the door" Amy frowned revisiting her own notes " according to our reports all of Tasmia's clothes were present ,Right ?" John nods a bit but pauses in realization " She's naked ? " Amy nods her head " I did some research there is a rumor flying around that the psychiatric ward is experimenting on the patients and looking at the CCTV footage there are 6 nurses who took the elevator and did not appear on any other cameras for the rest of their shifts , that is including the ones In the Elevator "

John closes his laptop now looking up to Amy " Do you know how long it would take for someone to move from Tasmia's room to the elevator carrying something around her weight? .." he slides his book to Amy " 30 minutes roughly the same time it would take for someone to force feed Jordan pills .." John stands up now reaching for his coat and badge " oddly enough only one nurse for both incidents was close enough to the rooms to be inside when that time period begun .She was at Tasmia's door when the cameras cut past our 30minutes I know because a snail on the window had mysteriously disappeared "

The case was closed ,John and Amy travel down to the hospital to make an arrest they did not find The nurse and she did not appear on any paperwork almost like she did not exist but the police did investigate the elevator in fact only John and Amy knew

Chapter 3: The mole

" Well the hospital obviously has an inside man at the station " John exclaims, sitting across Amy at the café again, they were both clicking on their laptops barely making eye contact while speaking to each other " I made a list of everyone, the warranty request to investigate Jordan would go through so we know who would have known the information " _Amy " I time stamped every step of the process and cross reprocessed it with all other warranty process, to map out where someone could’ve taken the time in between to pass on the information, I figure a 10 min difference isn't all that bad , they could’ve have went to the bathroom " _John The two turn their laptops to each other and realize they all have the same 5 people highlighted " I checked out who was also involved in the initial investigation of the hospital and crossed out everyone else"_ Amy The duo closed the tabs and decided to give the hospital one more visit " What did the head of the hospital say about the undocumented nurse? "_John asks opening his passenger seat car for Amy " They claimed they recently updated their systems and prioritized patient information , she said she'll dig up her file for me and call me but I'm not holding my breathe " _Amy " And I'm guessing they used Jordan's death to deny you access to the patients" _John " Yep, apparently the whole thing even Tasmia's disappearance is a trigger for all of them"
